Shadow Zombie (2013) - BrinkVision Releases To VOD Today!

SHADOW ZOMBIE

A Southern tale of love and death set Deep in Louisiana.

BrinkVision releases the critically acclamied documentary style underground cult film SHADOW ZOMBIE on VOD and Limited Edition DVD April 21st. SHADOW ZOMBIE stars Kim Filth, who lives with his dad, sells weed to skaters, writes poetry, and snorts painkillers to get through the day. Directed by Jorge Torres-Torres, SHADOW ZOMBIE Shooting under near-documentary conditions in and around Lafayette, Louisiana, Jorge Torres-Torres operates by peopling his film with a coterie of genuine Acadiana misfits. As the imagery swerves like a junkie's waking nightmare from handicap actuality to grotesque realism, a shadow world is hinted at, visible from the one we live in but decidedly separate from it. The merciless and at times unexpectedly poignant observation of Kim's world dares to see through to the human core of a drug addict or clinically depressed clown.

Synopsis:
Meet Kim Filth, and enter his horror-film existence - based on fact and blended with fiction. Kim lives with his dad, sells weed to skaters, writes poetry, and snorts painkillers to get through the day. By night, he likes to stroll around painted up as his alter ego, Shadow Zombie, which is how he meets registered nurse and part-time clown Brandi. What follows is a brief romance marked by destruction by the very real phantoms emanating from Kim's dead-end present and Brandi's traumatic past. As captured by Jorge Torres-Torres under near-documentary conditions, the film chronicles a coterie of genuine misfits in its merciless observation of Kim's world, daring to see past the facades of troubled souls through to their human core.

When Will The Next Book From "A Song Of Ice And Fire" Be Released?

George R.R. Martin says that Book VI, The Winds Of Winter, will come out in Spring of 2016. It will come out just before season 6 of the HBO adaptation, "Game Of Thrones", which will air in April of 2016.

He told Entertainment Weekly:
I wish it was out now. Maybe I’m being overly optimistic about how quickly I can finish. But I canceled two convention appearances, I’m turning down a lot more interviews—anything I can do to clear my decks and get this done.
On having started the book after releasing Book V,  A Dance With Dragons, in 2011:
I was red hot on the book and I put it aside for six months. I was so into it. I was pushing so hard that I was writing very well. I should have just gone on from there, because I was so into it and it was moving so fast then. But I didn’t because I had to switch gears into the editing phase and then the book tour. The iron does cool off, for me especially.

Available to pre-order from

Amazon http://amzn.to/1oBuGBp

SYNOPSIS:
This swashbuckling tale out of The Thousand and One Nights was Hollywood mega-star and producer Douglas Fairbanks' pet project, and coming on the heels of previous costume successes The Three Musketeers, The Mark of Zorro, and Robin Hood, cemented Fairbanks' standing as both the leading action-adventure star of his day and one of the industry's first "multi-hypenate" powerhouses.

The actor stars as the impious thief Ahmed who has made a reputation as Baghdad's premiere plunderer. When he falls in love with a beautiful princess (Julanne Johnston) and the two determine to marry, her father the caliph intervenes, forbidding the union. Thus erupts a chain of circumstances involving a crystal ball, a magic apple, a pegasus, an invisibility cloak... and, of course, a flying carpet.

No expense was spared for The Thief of Bagdad: An Arabian Nights Fantasy — it was one the costliest films produced in Hollywood in the silent era, evident in both the stunning sets of William Cameron Menzies and the breakthrough special effects that weave throughout the picture. Expertly directed by Raoul Walsh, who would go on to become of America's foremost filmmakers, and the creator of such classics as The Bowery, High Sierra, and White Heat, The Thief of Bagdad remains an enduring fantasy for the ages. The Masters of Cinema Series is proud to release Fairbanks and Walsh's epic, newly restored and featuring a magnificent score by maestro Carl Davies conducting the Philharmonia Orchestra, in a Dual Format release for the first time in the UK.

SPECIAL DUAL FORMAT (BLU-RAY + DVD) EDITION includes
  • New high-definition 1080p presentation of the film on the Blu-ray
  • Audio commentary by Fairbanks biographer Jeffrey Vance
  • 40-PAGE BOOKLET including new and exclusive writing on Douglas Fairbanks and Raoul Walsh
