Wolfcop Getting A Sequel

Following two successful buyers screenings at the Cannes Film Festival, CineCoup announces a sequel to genre hit WolfCop.

"We are ecstatic by the reception of international buyers to CineCoup's first feature film,” says Brad Pelman, CineCoup President, Distribution and Sales. “Based on the unanimous positive reaction to the film, we will be putting Wolfcop 2 into production this fall. We can't divulge much about the storyline at this point, only that it will be dirtier and harrier than the first one."

At the helm of WolfCop 2 will be director Lowell Dean, following the same winning formula as his original film.

“The unique audience-driven model has created a flurry of international interest,” says Raven Banner Managing Partner, Michael Paszt. “That, combined with the genre appeal of WolfCop and its vast spin-off potential has made both CineCoup as a business model and the film an instant hit with international buyers.”

International Sales Agent, Raven Banner Entertainment, will be announcing deals shortly.

WolfCop follows Lou Garou (Leo Fafard), an alcoholic cop who tends to black out and wake up in unfamiliar surroundings. However, lately things have taken a strange turn. Crime scenes seem oddly familiar, Lou's senses are heightened, and when the full moon is out, he's a rage-fueled werewolf. WolfCop is one cop's quest to become a better man...one transformation at a time.

WolfCop (the original) opens in theatres across Canada on June 6, 2014.

Sharknado 2 (Movie) - Project Gets The Greenlight

Assignment X brings us the news:
The Asylum will be producing the film again and it’s set to air in 2014.
Syfy also announced that it is asking the fans to come up with the sequel subtitle via Twitter. So you can submit those names @SyfyMovies with the hashtag #SHARKNADO. Let the crazy weather/animal hybrid jokes begin (well, they already began, now they’re just going to continue going and going and going).
In the press release, Thomas Vitale, Executive Vice President, Programming and Original Movies, Syfy, said: “Every once in a while, there is a perfect storm – on television. The fans are clamoring for a sequel. Or perhaps it will be a prequel. What we can guarantee is that Sharknado 2 will be lots of fun. We’ll be announcing more details very soon. But we didn’t want our fans to worry they wouldn’t get their fill of more shark fin, I mean, fun next year.”

Man Of Steel (2013) - Sequel Depends On First Two Weekends

Entertainmentwise reports the following from Goyer:

Talking to Bang Showbiz at the European premiere that was hosted in London's Leicester Square, he said: "I'm under lock and key, but it would be disingenuous to say we didn't [have ideas]."
Earlier this week it was reported that movie studio Warner Bros. had already got the Goyer working on the rebooted Superman sequel, as well as much-discussed Justice League flick - this would be an Avengers-style effort - uniting several superheroes including Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman.
Goyer said: "A lot is going to depend on this weekend and next weekend. We certainly are hoping for a sequel."

More On The Expanding DC Cinematic Universe From David Goyer

Bleeding Cool spoke with Goyer, who talked about his three-picture deal. And, of interest to us all, how "Man Of Steel" influences what's to come.
It is our intention that, in success, this would be the zero issue and from this point onward, possible films could expand into a shared universe. In our world, the Man of Steel world, Zack has gone on record saying that we’re implying there are other superheroes in this world. But I don’t know that they’ve come forward yet. The idea is that Superman is the first one. There might be people helping people, but not in costumes, and that Superman comes forward and announces himself to the world. In him announcing himself, he’s the one that changes things.
So, Superman revealing himself is the issue #0 event that starts the ball rolling for other super powered beings and meta-humans to come forward? Like a  certain one-eyed philosopher once said:
You think you're the only superhero in the world? Mr. Stark, you've become part of a bigger universe. You just don't know it yet.

Man Of Steel Sequel In The Works Now

Deadline brings us the following news about the project:
Warner Bros Pictures is fast-tracking the Superman reboot sequel with its successful twosome already in place: Zack Snyder reprising as director and David S. Goyer repeating as screenwriter. Goyer’s deal is part of a huge 3-picture deal he signed at Warner Bros for Man Of Steel, the sequel, and Justice League with Superman. What is a question mark next time is the role Christopher Nolan will fill. To reimagine this 3rd Superman franchise, Nolan stepped in as producer and mentor and story co-writer. I’m told that next time Nolan’s producer role won’t be as “full blown”. Hey, he’s busy working on other projects, and now the sequel is on firm footing just as the first’s 3D and 2D grosses start rolling in.

ABCs Of Death (2012) - Sequel Coming

Variety brings us the following news:

The producers behind “ABCs of Death” are getting ready to add more letters, announcing a sequel to last year’s anthology horror pic to shop at Cannes.
Magnet Films, the genre arm of Magnolia Pictures, will produce in association with Timpson Films and Drafthouse Films.
“ABCs of Death” tapped separate horror directors for 26 short films about death. The second film will expand beyond horror helmers, however, and has signed on directors including “The Last Circus’” Alex de la Iglesia, “Room 237′s” Rodney Ascher and animator Bill Plympton.
Like they did with the original, producers will hold a director’s competition this summer to include one additional filmmaker. Release of “ABCs of Death 2″ is planned for next year.

Roland Emmerich Is Planning Two Sequels To ID4

/Film brings us the following from Emmerich:
That’s actually what we talked a lot about. The mythology of why did the aliens come in the first place, what is the bigger story of this whole thing? And we talked a lot about swarm intelligence. And [the humans] are individual intelligence. Even though we kill each other and have wars against each other, we have something special. We have this domino human spirit to believe in good and over coming enemies. And it’s a little bit about that and when you get a bigger mythology going, I think then you have the chance to do not only one or two or three but you can create a series and that’s what we want to do.

Prometheus Sequel Coming In 2014 or 2015

According to The Hollywood Report:
The studio's big summer bet was Ridley Scott's Prometheus, June's sort-of Alien prequel. The $130 million-budgeted film grossed a solid but not spectacular $303 million globally, putting it right on the franchise bubble. Fox confirms to THR that Scott and the studio actively are pushing ahead with a follow-up (stars Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace are signed) and are talking to new writers because Prometheus co-scribeDamon Lindelof might not be available. "Ridley is incredibly excited about the movie, but we have to get it right. We can't rush it," says Fox president of production Emma Watts, who also has overseen the successful reboots of the X-Men and Planet of the Apes franchises by turning over the reigns to innovative filmmakers. APrometheus sequel would be released in 2014 or 2015.
